People Are Sharing How They Found Out They Had Fake Friends

A true friend is worth their weight in gold. But unfortunately, they also happen to be just as rare and hard to find.

It's difficult to admit that sometimes, we end up misjudging someone who we thought had our best interests at heart. Have a look as people are now sharing how they found out they had fake friends.

When the phone stopped ringing.

A while back, Redditor maddallena had the misfortune of losing their phone. They explain how they didn't have their friends' numbers memorized, but that their own phone number didn't change.

Yet for some reason, the phone never rang.

When Redditor allens969 went through a divorce, it was an incredibly trying time financially. At their worst, they had less than $700 in their account. Once their generous nature was placed on hold, allens969's so-called friends stopped coming around.

What really stung was that Redditor lovinyourscene was the only member of their friend group who wasn't included. Not only was it incredibly hurtful, but left them feeling self-conscious and alone.

After they realized that their friends had been the ones spreading rumors about them in high school.

Who in their right mind does this? You'd have to be a borderline sociopath to pretend to be friends with someone throughout high school while you're simultaneously spreading rumors behind their backs.

"Whenever we were supposed to hang out, something came up, and that something was hanging out with other mutual 'friends,'" said Reddit user Ashii_nix.

Making time for everyone else, but not for you.

When one user noticed that his friend didn't take the time to spend time with him, but always made time for other people, that's when they realized their friend was kind of fake.

Being ignored and ditched is always a bad thing.

When one friend wanted to play games online with someone, they would constantly be ditched or be ignored.

The problem was, either person could see when the other was online.

Overstepping the line

There are some things that people don't feel comfortable sharing, even with their closest friends or family.

So when people keep asking and don't respect your privacy, it can be super frustrating.

99 problems

Similarly, when your friend only wants to talk about their problems and never yours, that's not a good sign either.

Friendships run two ways, and there has to be a perfect amount of give and take between both people.

After one friend knew that a birthday for one user was being planned for a particular day, they still decided to plan their own birthday for the same day.

How rude is that?

When they steal from you

When one friend literally stole from one user that was pretty much all they needed to walk away.

Needless to say, that friendship was doomed. I just hope they got their stuff back!
